Our Programs
We have several programs which allow us to provide quality karate instruction to accomodate every schedule.
After-school Program: We pick up children from area elementary and middle schools upon completion of their day and bring them to the dojo where the kid have an opportunity to do homework and eat snacks (brought from home) before instruction begins. Instruction is from 4:00-5:00PM. Afterwards, the children have the opportunity to change and have some quiet time or continue working on homework.
Evening Program: Alternatively, we teach evening classes twice per week (tuesday and thursday) during the hours of .....-....PM.
Blackbelt Club: A special program for blue belts and above students is held every
Wednesday from 5:00-6:15PM. This is a popular program
where the students concentrate on more advanced techniques and also learn to use weapons such as the Bo (left) and the Sai (right). This program is intended to be in addition to one of the regular programs (after school or evening). Once every month, Sensei Maughn teaches this class.
Advanced Training: We are begining a new program designed specifically for our intermediate and advanced students, green belt and above. These sessions are targeted to help prepare them for the skills and requirements necessary to successfully pass advanced tests to the higher level brown belts and especially the Black Belt test. This class is held during normal after-school class hours (4:00-5:00PM) at the Krav Maga dojo located near the intersection of Fredericksburg and Callaghan.
Sho Dan Ho Seminars: This is a monthly seminar held one random Saturday per month between the hours of 12:00-2:00PM, which is also targeted toward developing the skills necessary to pass the Black Belt test. Sho Dan Ho, translated into English, simply means "junior black belt." This is the designation given to all Black Belt students under the age of 18. These sessions are filled with focused instruction, plenty of physical conditioning, healthy criticism and advanced techniques.
Summer and School Holiday Programs: We make every effort to accomodate schedules for working parents. During school breaks for summer, spring break, and the winter holiday break, we open at 7:00AM. On these days, the kids receive two sessions of Karate, as well as fun time and supervised activities.
Adult Karate Instruction: We have recently begun full-time adult karate instruction, teaching xx-times per week on xx and xx evenings.
