Belts

Progression through the ranks is indicated by the color of the belt (or ....) that the student wears. Two and a half years ago, we started with ((number in here)) white belts. Today, many of these original students are still with us. Two have earned the brown belt, and several others have green belts. Most of these advanced students have also been selected to be Junior Leaders. These students help to provide instruction for beginning students. Beginner |
10th Kyu. This indicates a beginning student. | ||||

Intermediate |
7th Kyu. | ||||

| 5th Kyu. | |||||
| 4th Kyu. This belt is green with a black stripe in the center along the length of the belt. | |||||
Advanced |
3rd Kyu. The brown belt indicates ((more in here)). There are four levels of brown belt before proceding to black belt. | ||||
| 2nd Kyu. This belt is brown with a white stripe in the center along the length of the belt. | |||||
| 1st Kyu. This belt is brown with a black stripe in the center along the length of the belt. | |||||
| 1st Dan - means "first man" in Japanese. The black belt indicates mastery of ((more in here)). This is the highest rank that most karate students will achieve and there are xx levels of black belt. For a list of demanding requirements required to achieve this rank, click here. | |||||
